Your opportunity to travel with the Shopping Guru! Wendy regularly escorts small group tours to various locations in Asia that have wonderful shopping. Freestyle in nature, her tours allow you to have it your own way: tag along any day for a particular shopping destination or pursue your own objectives with Wendy’s personalized advice and directions. Either way, participants gather every day for breakfast, dinner or drinks to share anecdotes, laughter and mercantile success stories.

Tours are promoted through our free Hot Spots to Shop e-newsletters, so be sure to sign up.

Tours include a wide variety of Asian destinations. Experience Kuala Lumpur for the famous Mega Shopping Sale in August. In Vietnam, visit wonderful shops such as Vietnam Quilts, and take time out for a magnificent overnight cruise on Halong Bay with its surreal limestone islands and caves (pearl shopping afterward!) In the village of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site, sit in on a cooking class, have clothes and shoes made to order, and explore this delightful village on a guided walking tour. From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An was Vietnam’s window on the world, its most important port and trading post. Reminders of this period still abound.

In Bangkok, a veritable shopping heaven, visit the factory outlet for internationally known Jim Thompson fabrics. Then ramble over to Almeta Fabrics for fine silks in stunning shades produced by traditional Thai hand weaving methods. Shop at the lovely Silom Village with its Thai designer stores and restaurants. Don’t forget Pantip Plaza, the place for electrical goods.

In China, Wendy escorts tours to Shanghai and Beijing that will dramatically expand your shopping horizons while honing your bargaining skills. Besides the traditional items usually associated with China, a whole slew of new and exciting products, sophisticated and modern, reflect the dichotomy of the nation: timeless and venerable, yet racing to the future.

Wendy is always happy to talk to individuals and companies about escorting their own dedicated custom tour.

Nurses Study Tour Bangkok Thailand

Sawatdee ka (Hello)

A growing number of Australians are choosing to go overseas, especially to Asia, for medical procedures in a trend known as medical tourism. The procedures include plastic surgery and complex dental work. The motive, often, is the ability to receive treatments at a much lower cost than in Australia. Problems arise when complications occur when the patient arrives home. A local medical officer will need to take over their care and they may have no redress with the medical staff and hospital who provided the service overseas.

So is it safe to combine tourism and medical procedures?

In this study tour, we will visit Bangkok and explore the concept of Medical Tourism – from 5-star hospitals to charitable organizations. We will meet with Nursing and Health Practitioner colleagues and discuss the challenges and successes of their work and the implications for the medical tourist.
